The Forty exhibition

A week ago at the age of forty I presented forty artworks including the first painting I made at the age of two through to a work in progress.

My second solo exhibition was as important as my first. I wanted to do it again. The thrill of my first exhibition was intoxicating and I craved the purpose, saturating myself in artmaking and presenting my vision in its full vulnerability.

I am not able to specialise in one medium or one style so abandon any pretense and embrace my chaos. As a result The Forty was quite eclectic and surprised many, including myself that the collection was created by one person. The works range from fine line detailed pencil, printmaking, watercolour, collage, mixed media of wax, ink, pastel and paint, to experimental textile sculpture. Subjects included representations of the human form, portraits of animals, flora studies and the contrast of texture and light.

The most incredible thing about this exhibition was the conversations. Numerous chats with other artists, gallery regulars, locals and tourists stimulated my creativity and left me buzzing with inspiration. There will be exciting work in my future!

The exhibition was held in the Macleay Valley Community Art Gallery in Gladstone NSW from May 1 – 18 2025. A stunning gallery space of high exhibition quality run by volunteers. The support of the committee was fantastic. In late October 2025 the gallery will host a joint exhibition to celebrate its 20th Anniversary. An event not to be missed.

Motley Disposition

Specialising in a diverse range of styles, Morgan brings an eclectic assembly of artwork to the audience. Motley Disposition is an exhibition of realism, expressive drawing, abstract painting and Pop Art.

I am attracted to a wide variety of art making and subjects. In pursuit of a theme for my solo exhibition I have had to accept my motley disposition. I cannot commit to one style of art making, so I abandoned any attempt at discipline and embraced a multitude of artmaking styles.
